Biblical Principles
Stoneybrooke Christian School’s Biblical role is to work in conjunction with the home, to mold students to be Christ-like. Of necessity, this involves the school’s understanding and belief of what qualities or characteristics exemplify a Christ-like life. (Exodus 20:1-17, Mark 12:29-31, Ephesians 4:1)
The school reserves the right, within its sole discretion, to refuse admission of an applicant or discontinue enrollment of a student if the atmosphere of conduct within a particular home or activities of the student are counter to or in opposition to the biblical lifestyle the school teaches. Students and parents may not advocate a lifestyle or actions that are inconsistent with the school’s biblical lifestyle statements. (Ephesians 5:15, Matthew 5:13-16, Daniel 12:3)
A biblical lifestyle is defined as a life spent in pursuit of the behavioral and spiritual standards clearly stated in the Bible and maintaining those same standards. While acknowledging that “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God,” (Romans 3:32) there is a diligent, obedient pursuit of living in accordance with the scriptures (1 John 1:6-7, 2:3-6, Ephesians 5:15).
It is Stoneybrooke’s sincerely held biblical belief that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as either male or female and that these two distinct, complementary sexes together reflect the image and nature of God. Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.
“Biological sex” means the biological condition of being male or female as determined at birth based on physical differences or when necessary, at the chromosomal level.
A parent member or student who openly and unrepentantly rejects his/her biological sex, either in or out of school, is rejecting the image of God within that person. Such behavior constitutes a person’s failure to adhere to his/her commitment to abide by the behavioral standards in the bible as reflected in the school’s policies and sincerely held religious beliefs established by the school. That behavior would be cause for removal from the school for the student.
Regarding the use of the facilities: Members of that biological sex shall only use parent or student restrooms and locker rooms that are designated for that biological sex. (Genesis 1:27, Matthew 19:4, Titus 2:11-14, 1 Timothy 1:9-12)
Stoneybrooke believes that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect and dignity. (Mark 12:28-31, Luke 6:31) Hateful and harassing behavior or attitude toward any individual (staff, parents, or student) are to be repudiated because they are not in accordance with the redemptive attitude of the school and do not reflect the full counsel of scripture.
